Our Story

SENYAI was born from a deep passion for authentic Thai food and culture. I’m Nina, born and raised in Thailand, and I spent over a decade living in New York City. After COVID hit, I lost my design job and moved to Jacksonville to stay with a friend, hoping to find work. I tried everything—Amazon warehouse shifts, Uber, DoorDash—just to get by. But in the middle of all that hustle, one thing was crystal clear: I missed real Thai food.

Jacksonville had Thai restaurants, but nothing that truly captured the vibrant, authentic flavors I grew up with. So, I thought, “Why not create my own?”—a place where people could taste the true essence of Thailand.

It wasn’t easy. With limited resources and no restaurant background, I had to rely on pure determination and creativity. But passion has a way of breaking through obstacles. Clark, my business partner, caught on to my dream. A world traveler from Jacksonville who had fallen in love with Thailand’s food and culture after a few visits, he was just as excited about the idea. And with that, SENYAI was born.

As our little restaurant started to grow, so did the demand. We were getting more and more customers, but finding good help was tough. That’s when my aunt, Sunee, came to the rescue. She flew in from Thailand to join our team. A proud mom of two sons and a true culinary expert, she spent her whole life in the food industry as a Research & Development Director. She knows how to cook from the heart like a Thai mom and how to prep and run a kitchen like a pro. Now, she helps us perfect our recipes and makes sure everything we serve meets high standards—from flavor to food safety.

Thanks to her, every dish at SENYAI is not only full of bold, authentic flavor—it’s backed by years of expertise and love.
